1966 Mustang - Project Laszurus

In 1998, I have a chance to pick up a 1966 Mustang Coupe from the son of the original owner. It needed considerable work, and had not been on the street for over 18 years. After 8 months, the project was completed (well, 90% completed) and was on the road.

In the beginning...

After the first wash and removal of black widow spiders, the tires were replaced, and the car was able to roll to my sisters house, who kindly allowed me rebuild room. I started from the inside out, and from the bottom up. Engine, transmission, suspension, cooling system, exhaust system, wheels and brakes were first. The interior was also fumigated, and the car was driven to verify the mechanicals were done. Next came the interior, with carpet, seats, dashboard, headliner, new seatbelts, center console rebuild (it has a factory center console and Air Conditioning)

Finally...

After much work and help from friends and family, my Mustang hit the streets with a brand new 5.0 engine (not rebuild) electronic ignition, digital stereo, rotary A/C pump, electric fuel pump, and new style seat belts. By keeping my eye on the factory look and modern components, I was able to complete the project in 10 months. Special thanks to my brother Keith who hated the hub caps and bought the factory custom wheels, and Mustang's and More in Ventura. They are at: Mustangs and More in Ventura.
